Agrodok 40
The first Agrodok on small-scale mushroom cultivation (no. 40) describes how to grow mushrooms on substrates that only need heat treatment.
Agrodok 41
This booklet elaborates on growing mushrooms on fermented substrates or compost, i.e. Rice Straw Mushroom (Volvariella spp.), and Button Mushroom (Agaricus spp.).
Composting for mushroom cultivation is quite complex. This publication therefore describes the process of composting of agricultural wastes to use in cultivation of the two above mentioned mushroom species. Some attention is paid to the biology of mushrooms and to general characteristics of mushroom farms.
Spawn
The process of obtaining spawn and of spawn production is mentioned, and the requirements for growing conditions, mushroom houses and equipment for the two mushroom species. After explaining how to harvest and to preserve the mushrooms, it follows an analysis of local and regional markets.
Appendices
Appendices give among others an air quality test, a detailed overview of transferring spawn cultures and formulas for compost. A glossary, a list of useful addresses and hints for further reading complete the publication.
